Advice Nurse

Your initial contact with the Wilce Student Health Center Staff may be with an Advice Nurse. Our Advice Nurses can answer health-related questions, provide health counseling, assess health needs and make referrals to appropriate services.

If you have an injury or condition requiring immediate attention, you may be seen on a same-day basis by our on-call physician. Students with more serious problems will be seen ahead of those with less serious problems. The Advice Nurse makes all referrals to this service.

The Ohio State University Nurse Line

Is the Wilce Student Health Center closed?

All Ohio State students can now talk with a Registered Nurse any time, day or night. Sponsored by the Undergraduate Student Government and the Office of Student Affairs, the OSU Nurse Line can give students information and support when they:

  • Aren’t sure if they have a serious medical problem
  • Want to learn how to take care of a new or chronic condition
  • Need information about medications, tests or procedures
  • Want to find ways to talk effectively with their health care provider
  • Have questions about how to stay healthy

Students can contact the OSU Nurse Line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week though the 2007-08 academic year, beginning on September 1, 2007.  There is no cost to students for the calls, regardless of their health insurance coverage.

The toll free number is 1-800-465-5628.

Absence Excuse

Did you miss a class due to an illness?  Do you need to provide an excuse?  If  you had a visit with a health care provider they can provide you with a visit verification form.  If you didn't see a health care provider but still need to document your illness you can use the Absence Excuse Form.
